SOADI recently hosted YES 1 (Yoga Exercise Specialist) yoga training at SOADI head office. This training gives line front line workers and chance to be able to provide their communities safe Hatha Yoga classes for a variety of groups. The trainees will return in a few months to finish their practical work, complete their teaching hours and write an exam. Congratulations on completing your first step in becoming Yoga instructors.

I have been a Diabetes Prevention Coordinator at SOADI since 2009. Not long after I started with SOADI and having just played in a World Cup for women’s lacrosse (Team Haudenosaunee) in June of 2009, I was contemplating the status of my lacrosse career. At the time of the World Cup, I was 32 years old and had been playing since the age of 16.

7 Generations GDM Prevention Program had the opportunity to travel to Vancouver for the biannual UBC Interprofessional Conference: Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies. During the engaging two day conference, 300 +health professionals came together as collective to discuss the many triumphs and struggles of working in the maternal health field. Both keynote and breakouts had many common themes surrounding the present and future of pregnancy care. In addition to the concurrent sessions, 7 Generations presented a poster on the program and was able to connect and network with professionals from various communities/organizations across Canada.
