“On April 30th, 1999 , Assembly of First Nations National Grand Chief Phil Fontaine, in collaboration with NADA, proclaimed the first Friday in May as: “National Aboriginal Diabetes Awareness Day”.
Use this day and every day, to take a stand against type 2 diabetes by joining in fun community events that promote healthy living through regular exercise, healthy eating, and a balanced lifestyle. You can also organize a unique event on your own, or team up with a partner or community agency to deliver great events.
Learn as much as you can about diabetes and how to prevent type 2 diabetes for yourself, your family, and your community. By learning, you can also be a great support to those who are already living with this condition, to help them decrease their risk of serious complications that can occur when diabetes is not managed well.
